Stefanie Jacobson Kirkland relocated to St. Louis, MO in 2005 from San Francisco, CA where she received her Masters in Fine Arts degree in Painting from the Academy of Art College. During her master’s program, she studied in Corciano, Italy through American University under the tutelage of Barbara Rose.  She received her undergraduate degree in Surface Pattern Design and Art History from Syracuse University in New York.  Between her undergraduate and graduate programs, she was a professional textile designer in New York City and attended New York’s Arts Student League to continue studying art.

Stefanie Kirkland has been with Craft Alliance in St. Louis, MO, since 2005. She is currently the Deputy Director. She manages the entire exhibition programming including, the initial concept of exhibitions, acts as the in-house curator, planning the budgets, all aspects of marketing, the designing of all publications, and the finalization of installation.  She acts as the liaison between artists and Craft Alliance and organizes events to correspond with the exhibitions. She oversees the gallery shop and assists with budgeting, buying and merchandising. She manages a staff of four to six sales associates. Stefanie is the Director of the Artists-In-Residence Program which includes recruiting artists, marketing the program, coordinating program events and opportunities for the artists. She acts as mentor to the artists and helps them navigate their careers as an exhibiting artist. She assists them with community projects and outside exhibition opportunities.

Through Stefanie’s training as both a fiber artist and painter, her work incorporates aspects from each media, focusing on enhancing the subject matter through mixed media techniques. Stefanie’s work has been shown nationally and is in various private collections.
